The Ohio House of Representatives has approved House Bill 269, which will designate a section of Route 60 in honor of Sgt. Bradley J. Harper, announced State Rep. Adam Holmes, the bill's sponsor. The two-mile stretch of road, from its intersection with Main Street in Dresden, Ohio to its connection with Route 16, will be named the Sgt. Bradley J. Harper USMC Memorial Highway.

Sgt. Harper, a native of Zanesville, Ohio, made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in Iraq. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps Reserves in 1998 and was killed in action on August 3, 2005, during a combat operation in southern Iraq. His bravery and dedication to his country will now be forever remembered through this memorial highway.

State Rep. Adam Holmes expressed his gratitude and emphasized the importance of honoring Sgt. Harper's memory. He stated, "There has been a lot of change in the world in the past 18 years, but some things never change and good things always endure. Sgt. Harper has never been forgotten and remains a permanent part of Dresden."

The passing of House Bill 269 is a significant step in recognizing the sacrifice of Sgt. Harper and the impact he made during his service. The bill will now proceed to the Ohio Senate for further consideration.

The designation of the Sgt. Bradley J. Harper USMC Memorial Highway serves as a reminder of the courage and selflessness displayed by Sgt. Harper and all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country. It is a fitting tribute to honor his memory and ensure that his legacy lives on.

The community of Dresden, Ohio, and the state of Ohio as a whole, can now commemorate Sgt. Harper's contribution and reflect on the sacrifices made by members of the military. The memorial highway will stand as a symbol of respect and gratitude for the brave men and women who defend our freedoms.

As the bill moves forward in the legislative process, it is hoped that it will receive the same unanimous support and recognition in the Ohio Senate. The memory of Sgt. Bradley J. Harper will forever be etched into the fabric of Ohio's history, and this memorial highway will serve as a lasting tribute to his service and sacrifice.
